Hi, I'm Alaina.

My goal is to help you gain more control over the seemingly uncontrollable

I am a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) in the state of Maryland who offers virtual appointments to adults. I am passionate about working with folks who live with complex trauma, chronic illness, anxiety disorders, phobias, depression, and bipolar disorders.

If you have experiences with one or more of these, then you likely know what it’s like to live a life that feels like a constant battle and balancing act. There are often unforgiving, unexpected, and demanding shifts in life’s expectations of life.

I see clients exclusively via telehealth. You must reside in the state of Maryland to engage in telehealth services with me.

Who I work with

Living with phobias and anxiety is like having your own worst enemy living inside your head. The world around you melts away, and in its place is replaced by your worst fears, stuck in your own personal hell. When you try to describe to others what you see and feel, they can’t see what you see.

I work with adults (18+) who:

  • Realize that current mental health struggles are preventing them from living life the way they would like to.

  • Are seeking support with managing anxiety.

  • Are exploring identity, sexuality, or relationships.

  • Live with a phobia that feels like a barrier to enjoying aspects of life.

  • Live with depression or a bipolar diagnosis and are seeking resources for managing their mood.

  • Experience difficulty connecting with peers or loved ones.

  • Feel like their mental health challenges are preventing them from living authentically.

  • Live with chronic illness or chronic pain.

  • Need space to discuss the challenges of navigating daily life with chronic illness or chronic pain.

  • Might be new to therapy and are unsure of where to begin.

More About Me

My own experiences with mental illness started my passion for being a therapist. As a child, I was born with mental illness, that only worsened overtime. I would have at least daily panic attacks, and struggle to sleep as the depression consumed. I tried to live as everything was harder, and felt that my suffering was my fault; that since it was in my head, I was responsible. In therapy, I found a place where I could talk to someone who understood my struggles, and didn’t seek in invalidate me. Over time, with the help of therapy, life became more manageable for me; I begin to enjoy life more, although still having my struggles.

As a therapist, I deeply understand that life can present a myriad of challenges that may feel overwhelming at times. Whether you’re grappling with anxiety, facing the shadow of depression, coping with chronic illness or pain, or navigating the complexities of identity within the LGBT+ community, your experiences are valid and important. I am here to listen, support, and walk with you through your journey, providing a safe and non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts and feelings. Together, we’ll work towards understanding and healing.
